Biography of NBA Player Tracy McGrady

Considered one of the most explosive athletes on the basketball court, Tracy McGrady, commonly known as “T-Mac,” has had a profound career. Coaches and teammates have raved about his versatility on the floor, as McGrady has excelled both as a guard and forward. Defenders consider him one of the most difficult opponents to guard, and it has become evident that he is one of the more feared players in the National Basketball Association.

The Toronto Raptors drafted Tracy McGrady in the 1997 National Basketball Association draft. His versatility throughout his high school basketball career earned him a spot as the ninth pick overall. During his first few years as a professional basketball player, McGrady definitely experienced a few growing pains. For instance, he averaged less than ten points per game, and it was uncertain whether he would be the franchise player that the Toronto Raptors had desired. When then-rookie Vince Carter joined the Raptors in the 1999 season, McGrady was able to strengthen his game. He soon became one of basketball’s most respected offensive contributors, racking up a considerable number of assists and points.

After a few years in the National Basketball Association, Tracy McGrady became a scoring machine. He led the National Basketball Association in scoring during the 2003 and 2004 seasons, averaging close to thirty points per game each year. Even more fascinating is the seven all-star appearances that McGrady has made throughout his tremendous career. Most of his fame came with the Orlando Magic, and he holds numerous records with the club. Considering that the Orlando Magic is a highly-touted basketball franchise, McGrady’s records are considered extraordinary. In one of the games, he managed to score a franchise-record sixty-two points. He also leads the Magic in all-time free throws made, sinking over 1,800 while with the team. He has scored at least forty points in a game on forty-five different occasions, and has a total of four career triple-doubles.

Unquestionably, Tracy McGrady has taken the game of basketball to new heights. Playing with the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, and Houston Rockets, McGrady has performed exceptionally well, as evident by the numbers he has put up with each club. When joining the Rockets in June of 2004, McGrady did not disappoint the Houston fans. In what was considered an extraordinary feat, McGrady managed to drain four consecutive three-pointers in just thirty-five seconds in a game in December of 2004 against the San Antonio Spurs. A number of injuries would go on to plague McGrady during the core of his time with the Houston Rockets. However, playing with Yao Ming, McGrady managed to expand his offensive game significantly. Unfortunately, an injury McGrady suffered during the 2008-2009 season would put him on the shelf for a bulk of the year. Professional basketball analysts believe that he has been a valuable asset for all the teams he has played with, and there is no doubt that he will always be remembered as an impact player.
